Leaf Blowers

Choosing a Leaf Blower for Your Lawn Care Business

Backpack Leaf Blower

If you have a lawn care business, or are just a very ambitious homeowner, leaf blower is a must have.

The backpack leaf blowers, like the one pictured above, is one I have had for a little over a year now. We use it almost every day in our lawn care business. I don't know what I would do without it.

If you've never tried a professional grade leaf blower you'll be shocked at the power.

It can actually move small rocks and limbs!

Leaf blowers often pull double duty, mine does. During the summer you can use a leaf blower for removing fresh cut grass clippings from sidewalks and driveways. During the fall you can use it for blowing up the fallen leaves into piles so you can vac them up.

You can get a top notch leaf blower from any number of manufacturers including (in no particular order) Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, and RedMax just to name a few. Most blowers use two stroke engines so you can use the same gas / oil mixture for your blower that you use for your string trimmer and stick edger .

When choosing a blower you can get a couple of different options. The main one being your choice of where the throttle is. The one pictured above has a tube mount throttle. The other option is a frame mount throttle. This means you have to control the amount of air flow with one hand and move the tube around to blow where you want it to with your other hand. Everyone has an opinion on which one is better and some leaf blowers will feel different than others. Here again, I suggest you try one out for a while at your local equipment dealer and then decide.

We use our equipment pretty much every day (unless it rains). I get 2-3 seasons out of a blower before I replace them. We have our leaf blowers serviced regularly and that definitely helps with the life of them.

Below I've provided a link to a list of companies and the leaf blowers they offer. If you see one I need to ad or change, feel free to drop me an email and let me know.
